• The Middle Georgia Regional (KMCN) Class E surface is the primary controlled-airspace area to plan around on longer southbound routes. The Macon Downtown (KMAC) Class E shelf wraps part of the southeast edge of the city, and a commercial mission that frames the downtown skyline and the Ocmulgee River should check the KMAC approach surface before taking off.
• The Ocmulgee River valley and the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park (the oldest archaeological site in the Southeast, adjacent to the Riverside Drive corridor and the pedestrian entrance off the downtown core) are a controlled area. Aerial work that frames the mounds, the river access points, or the riverfront parkland should be scheduled around the park visitor-hours and the park service permit rules for commercial operations in federal parkland.
• The Macon Arena construction (a 230,000-plus square-foot, 10,000-plus capacity venue slated to open in summer 2028, replacing the Macon Coliseum across the Ocmulgee River) is the anchor of the downtown development wave.
